Apprentice wins ‘Trainee of the Year’ award

Congratulations to Multi-Skilled Apprentice Ashley O’Brien, from Sheffield, who has been named ‘Trainee of the Year’ at Efficiency North’s annual conference.

Ashley picked up his award at the 2020 Vision for Building Communities Conference at The KCOM Stadium in Hull. Ashley also received a small grant to support his career development.

Nineteen year old Ashley joined Keepmoat Regeneration through a Kick-start programme last year and is now employed to carry out work on an extensive repairs and maintenance contract worth £3million for Yorkshire Housing.

The conference was a great day where Efficiency North recognised the exceptionally hard work and skills of trainees who have supported EN framework projects over the past year.

Neil Wright, Operations Manager for Keepmoat Regeneration said: "Ashley is an integral part of the team and since joining Keepmoat Regeneration almost a year ago has transformed himself as an individual, becoming a lot more confident within the workplace and has learnt an extraordinary amount of life skills as well as on-site trade skills."

Employment adviser Imran Hussain said: “This is a fantastic example of how community investment and support can really pay dividends. By helping from the start, we are able to coach in interview techniques and help people realise their potential. I’m delighted that Ashley’s thrived in this role and winning the award is a real accomplishment.”
